Pam - Director of Operations & Media

A multitasking maven with a wealth of experiences across various domains.

Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and double minors in Chemistry and Medical Humanities from UTRGV, as well as an ongoing Master's degree in Exercise Science, they oversee the operations of our Center with precision and efficiency.

Their resume boasts a wide range of leadership roles, from Sports Coordinator and Basketball Coach with the Filipino Student Association, to Vice President and Co-founder of the Speech & Debate Association. Not only were they part of six other collegiate organizations, but they were also an academic powerhouse in high school, excelling in debate competitions, a slew of extracurriculars, and athletics. 

Their diverse interests include strength training, sports, coaching, blockchain, musical theatre, and travel.

Meet Victor, who brings a perfect blend of knowledge and creativity to the Shine Learning Center. 

He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a minor in Business Management from Our Lady of the Lake University, where he was a founding member of the Omega Delta Phi fraternity and an active participant in the Math Club. 

With nine years of Algebra teaching experience at IDEA Public Schools, including three as a Grade Team Leader, he adds depth to our academic repertoire. His additional ten-year experience as a graphic designer enriches our curriculum, bridging math and creative arts. 

Outside the classroom, he enjoys photography, graphic design, and PC gaming.

Welcome to Gabriel, an engineer-turned-educator with a flair for art and animation. 

With a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business Administration from UTRGV, he entered the education field enriched by his experiences as a graduate researcher in perovskite solar cells and a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. 

His two years teaching Geometry at IDEA, combined with three years of tutoring experience, equips him with a distinct pedagogical approach. His creative side shines through his love for art, 2D animations, and video editing - talents that birthed a mural within our Learning Center. 

He is also the proud owner of a Shih Tzu dog named Pepper Roni.

Meet our Director of Special Education, a luminary in the realm of creative and inclusive education.

Recognized as 'Teacher of the Year 2021-2022' following six nominations, his pedagogical prowess is well-known and respected. A graduate from UTRGV, his years of service as a Computer Tech Facilitator allowed him to merge technology and education, nurturing learning experiences that cater to all.

Beyond the tech arena, he has spent years as an All-Level Art and Special Education teacher, where he leveraged his skills as a freelance artist to inspire and empower his students. As the team leader for his school's Fine Arts team in 2021-2022, he demonstrated excellent leadership skills. Now, he brings his versatile talents to Shine Learning Center, guiding our Special Education initiatives with expertise, creativity, and passion.

Meet our passionate Recruitment Officer, a community bridge builder and steadfast advocate for special education.

A mother of two, she brings a uniquely personal touch to her role, effortlessly aligning her professional expertise with a mother's intuition. Her credentials boast a Bachelor's of Science in Sociology and a Master's of Arts in Education Administration and Leadership, both from the University of Texas - Pan American.

In addition to her duties as a Recruitment Officer, she stands out with her exceptional fundraising skills, a testament to her unwavering commitment to the Shine Learning Center's mission. When she's not helping our Center shine, she loves to spend time with her two sons, further fueling her passion for quality education.

 Introducing our Online Manager, a nature-loving adventurer with a strategic mind. 

He is currently studying at Oregon State University and balances his academic pursuits with a love for the great outdoors. From riding motorcycles on wooded backroads to hiking in the Pacific Northwest and walking his dogs along the Oregon coast, his zest for life and adventure is infectious.

His accomplishments are equally diverse, from being a Texas State Champion Sniper to securing first place in a district chess tournament. His commitment to community service is shown in his contribution of over 2000 volunteer hours. He is also part of an elite group, being one of only 300 students internationally to have taken the now-discontinued "Further IB Mathematics HL" course and proudly holds the National Hispanic Scholar title.

A visionary leader, he founded our center in 2009, with a bold ambition to revolutionize the learning environment in the Rio Grande Valley. Over the years, he's nurtured Shine into a bastion of academic excellence, recognized for its students' remarkable achievements across the country.

He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, further enriching his expertise with a Master's degree in Business from UC Berkeley. 

His robust knowledge base coupled with an impressive 25 years in the education sector allows him to oversee various roles, from teaching multiple science, math, and history subjects to administrative and principal duties.

As our Head Instructor, he's renowned for his ability to dramatically improve students' scores and unlock their potential, affirming our commitment to quality education.

Beyond his professional realm, Mr. Khamo is a passionate entrepreneur, avid runner, and an ardent fan of Formula 1 racing.
